Here it is!!!

For all of you who have been waiting for our next blog... ta da... here you go!!

I'll start with a little update of where we are at with our lives.
~Eric is working at our church as the middle school leader/coordinator. He is loving his time there and gets to go out to lunch and coffee with volunteers (I'm just a little bit jealous!). He works just two days a week at the church and the other days is working at Rocky Mountain lube and oil center.

~I am going on my official third week at Ent Federal Credit Union, five weeks with the company. I am trying to like my job and am still learning so much every day. I AM thankful I have paid holidays off, so that is one thing I like about it... but I don't know if that is enough to stay. I miss my job with Alaska Airlines, but don't miss being gone all the time!

We spend most of our free time with family and friends here. We have our special shows we watch with Aaron and Chelsea, friends who live in our building. We spend Sunday after noon with Eric's parents and then go to a married's small group on Sunday nights. We usually see Casey, Erin and Mia a few times a week for a movie night and dinner.

I am loving Colorado, but miss my family and friends in Washington so much!!!

I think I will end there, since I am at church right now and should get back upstairs to support my husband while he gives the middle schoolers cookies that are made with salt instead of sugar! He was so excited to make them eat the cookies!

bridezilla

Ahh weddings, they are a beautiful thing. Most girls dream of that wonderful day and how perfect it will be. From the flowers to the cake and to the very detail on her dress, every detail is planned out.

I have always been that girl! Every since I was little, I could picture that beautiful day. One thing I never thought of, was all the little details it takes to get to "that" day. Everything has been going well and I have thought of myself as an easy going bride to be... until today!! A little bridezilla came out of me this morning as I talked to the UPS guy that metered our invitations for the wrong amount. I'll give you a little back story before I continue.

It was a beautiful Colorado afternoon as Erin, Kirsten a.k.a. mom, and I finished addressing all 200 and something invitations. Eric took the invitations to the UPS store to see how much they would be, and they quoted us $1.00 for each invitation! Thinking they would still be the same price the, the next day we went in the store and the guy working said that they would only be 50 cents!! WOW... we thought to ourselves! That's awesome!! Thinking we were saving A LOT of money, we left 180 invitations there to be metered for 50 cents. We then went to breakfast to celebrate our big mailing and enjoyed every bite! The weekend went on with apartment shopping and spending time with family. We flew home Tuesday afternoon to fine a bundle of invitations in my mailbox saying they needed 20 more cents. With anger ragging inside of me, I called Eric and told him what happened. It was too late to call the UPS store, so I tried to get some sleep. I woke up this morning and called the UPS store right away. It was the same guy who had helped us and I told him the story of getting the invitations back.

This is what he said...
ups guy - Well, I don't know what to tell you miss, but I metered those letters myself and I metered them correctly.

me - Well, they are not metered correctly because I am holding a stack of them as we speak!

ups guy - I'm very sorry, but they should have been delivered.

me - That is another thing, I paid you 50 cents for each invitation and the metered stamp is only
for 42 cents. Why is that?! Where is the other 8 cents?!

ups guy - Yes, they are metered for 42 cents. That is what it cost to mail them.

me - No, it is more than 42 cents to mail them because they are in square envelope. Again, why were they metered for 42 cents and not 50 cents when I paid you 50 cents for each one.

ups guy - Well, we have to make money some way!!

me - If it was going to be 42 cents to mail then, I would have put a stamp on it myself and not a huge white label!!! (getting really angry at this point, but still keeping my cool)

ups guy - That is what they came to on the meter and so that is what I put on the metered stamp.

As, you can tell, I was getting nowhere with this guy. I told him at the end of our conversation, that I would take them to the post office, see what they would say and if I didn't get anywhere with them, I would be calling him back. (really angry at this point)

I hung up the phone and my mom came in to ask me what he said. I burst into tears and fell onto my bed. (lost it!)

This afternoon, I took the stack of invitations to the post office and they said they need 20 more cents. I told them that some people already received their invitation and they said they may be charge 20 cents to get it. (still really angry)

As of right now, this story is not over! I am going to have my sister Dixie call the UPS guy tomorrow and give him the "what for"!! I'll write more tomorrow... I think I need a nap now...

Fast food

The day before my birthday, Eric and I went to North Bend and went shopping at the outlet malls. We were both getting hungry and could not decide where we wanted to eat. We finally decided on Arby's and ordered two roast beef sandwiches, two orders of curly fries and two sodas! We sat in the parking lot and enjoyed our yummy dinner!!

Eric eating curly fries at Arby's!

After finishing our food, we thought to ourselves... "We're still hungry!" So, we went to McDonald's!!! =D We ordered one chicken sandwich, one hot fudge sunday, one ice cream cone, two orders of fries (YUM!) and two sodas!

Me with my fries and ice cream cone at McDonald's!

As you can tell, we had a lot of fun and had VERY full tummies!

Rain, rain, go away!

Its raining here in the Pacific Northwest! I know, big shocker!! It better stop by tomorrow, because we have planned my birthday OUTSIDE!! I don't know why anyone in Washington plans to do anything outside! Its kind of silly if you ask me!

It was a beautiful day here yesterday! Eric and I went out to dinner at PF Chang's and then went to purchase our wedding bands. We went to the store and we did not see Eric's ring! The sales person was really rude and made me mad right away!!! He said that he had told and told people that if they saw a ring they wanted, they better get it. He told us people thought he was kidding and he just laughed at them! He said other stuff that I can't remember right now, but it was really rude!! (You have no idea how long it took to find that ring Eric loved! The mall has 8 jewelry stores and there was only that ring that Eric liked!)

Anyway, we left the jewelry story and I was mad at myself for not buying it all the times I had gone to look at it and mad because of the stupid salesman!! Eric was trying to cheer me up and said, "Lets go to REI and buy some socks!!!" I started laughing and said okay! We went to REI and guess what... they didn't have the socks I wanted! UGH!!! Disappointed and upset, we left REI and found that it had rained while we were in the store! I got all sad again because I didn't want it to rain on my birthday. (Silly, I know, but if your birthday is on the 4th of July, you would understand!) We started to leave the mall, but stopped by the Apple store and all of the sudden, my day was bright again! We left with a Mac book, printer and iPod touch! They are so pretty!!! :)

Its still raining here this morning! :( But, we did find Eric's ring online and purchased it, so that is one good thing! Pray it doesn't rain tomorrow!!

Attack of the birds!!

Friday afternoon, Eric and I set out on our adventure to get... ROLLERBLADES!!! We had a lovely drive to town and were very excited about our new adventure. I opened my door and got out of the car. I went to open the back door to get my socks and as I went to open the door, I heard something over my head. I looked up and saw a bird flapping right above my head! I ducked and then the bird flew into my head!! I screamed and said something to the effect of "holy cow" or something like that! I opened the door and the bird flew into my head again and was flapping in my hair!! I'm still screaming and its still flapping! I jumped into the back seat, hit my knee and saw Eric looking at me with a questioned look on his face. He asked "Are you okaaay...?" I was not able to answer him because I was laughing so hard I was crying!! I was finally able to get out... "Birds are attacking me!!!!" Eric, being the... sensitive guy he is, looked for the birds and said... "Babe, I don't see any birds out there." Totally making fun of me, he came over to the door and opened it to let me out and protect me from the crazy bird!! As we walked away from the car, the bird was sitting in the tree looking at me, just waiting for me to come back!

I don't like birds...!!

Date... breakfast!

I woke up this morning by a text from Eric saying good morning and asking me if I would like to get ready and pick him up?! I asked where we were going and he replied with... "Wouldn't you like to know!" Being me... I said YES and he said I would just have to wait! I got ready as fast as I could and drove to his house to pick him up. We got in the car and after a few minutes of conversation, I asked where we were going! He said I still had to wait!! Now, if you know me, you know that I love surprises... but it drives me crazy when I don't know what the surprise is! We drove down the road talking and engaging in conversation, all while I'm trying to figure out what he could have planned for us to do on a rainy Saturday morning. We arrived at the Matlby Cafe and I looked at him and just smiled!! The Matlby Cafe was the first place we had breakfast together not even 12 hours after we met. We went in and enjoyed a wonderful and tasty breakfast while spending time with just one another!

I can't even begin to describe how nice it was to feel so loved and thought of this morning. It has been a frustrating week with my iritis spreading to my other eye and still not knowing what the cause is. I rearranged my schedule for this next week to fit a doctor appointment in on Monday (long story). Now I am going to work tomorrow with a swollen, red eye that is so painful it makes me want to stay in bed all day. I'll keep you all posted on what happens Monday.

Memorial Day Weekend!

First I would like to say how thankful I am that we are able to live in this country and am extremely thankful for all of the men and women who are serving our country and fighting for our freedom!! With that being said... we enjoyed the past weekend and everything we were able to do because of those fighting for us!

Oh... before I forget, our other gift... the one in the big box... was a coffee maker!

It is so awesome and it even has a coffee gauge that tells you when the coffee is getting empty!

Anyway... back to the weekend... Friday night was mine and Eric's DATE NIGHT!!! We went out to dinner at Olive Garden and enjoyed and tasty dinner with some delicious wine. Yum!! Then we headed over to the theater to see Made of Honor. They had canceled the movie because of Indiana Jones, so they gave us 4 movie passes to come back later! We then went back to the house and watched my favorite movie of all times... Return to ME!!! I love that movie! Eric loved it so much that he fell asleep about 1/4 of the way into the movie. It was pretty funny!

Saturday morning, I went over to the boys house and made breakfast and just chilled before having to go to work. I was having a hard time going to work that afternoon. I think because when ever I had gone to work before Eric moved here, meant that I was not going to see him for a couple weeks! Even though I knew he would be at his house when I got back, it was still difficult. It is going to be a big adjustment being away on trips after we are married.

Sunday morning we went to church and then came up to my house for a BBQ. With full tummies, we went to the Evergreen Speedway race track for a fun night of cars crashing and monster trucks running over cars and trailers. It was so much fun and the best part was when they jazzed up the school bus figure eights and had the buses pulling boats behind them while doing figure eights! It was awesome!!! Here are a few pictures from the races.

This one is the school bus figure eights with the boats!

Just the two of us having fun at the races!

Finally, Monday, was a nice relaxing day starting with breakfast followed by a yummy BBQ at the Benders, ending with Andrew's never ending baseball game. All in all... it was a great weekend and am excited for the fun times we will enjoy together this summer and the summers to come.

the past 13 hours

Here I am, writing more just as I said I would last night. A lot has happened since then. Eric and Nate arrived yesterday around 7pm. There were lots of hugs and kisses going around and a lot of excitement that they were finally here!! We went into the house and they brushed their teeth after being in the car for 18 hour and then I showed them the cake I baked for them. Before I left my house yesterday to go into town, there was a box from Bed, Bath and Beyond with my name on it... so I took it with me so Eric and I could open our first wedding gift together! It was a set of Nat King Cole cd's from my wonderful friend and bridesmaid Autumn and her family!!

We then went to the Barrett's house where Eric and Nate will live over the summer and got them unpacked. Mark fixed dinner and we ate salad and steak around 9pm! As we were sitting at dinner, I think the busyness and emotions of the day caught up with me and I was not feeling well. I looked at Eric and said, "I have to leave right now... I'm going to be SICK!!!" I left as quickly as I could and then found myself in the Albertson's parking lot THROWING UP! The one thing I hate the most!!! I was thinking to myself, "home is just 10 minutes away!" I made it to my driveway, parked my car and RAN into the house... where I was throwing up till 3:30AM!!! Lets just say... I will not be eating salad or steak for a while...! ;)

I am going to try to sleep for a few more hours and then have an eye appointment at 1:30. Pray I don't throw up all over the doctor... hehe!

Eric's almost here...

I just talked to Eric and he is about an hour away!!! Eric and his brother Nate are moving to Monroe till the wedding. I have been waiting for them to get here all day and have been trying to stay busy to keep my mind from wondering where they are every 2 seconds! Here are just a few things I have done to keep busy. I cleaned my room, cleaned out my desk, put my winter clothes away and brought out the tank tops (it was almost 80 today), dusted my room, baked a cake for the boys, went to the store, helped Dixie with dinner... cleaned up from dinner and now I am on my way to my nephews baseball game and to Fred Meyer! Then... finally... what I have been waiting for all day... I get to see the man I am going to marry in just FOUR months!

I am excited to spend the next four months of our engagement living in the same state! The last four months of our engagement have been long distance and it has been hard at times, but we made it!!! We are half way there!! Well... I better get to the store so I can get back in time to see my man! Write more later...

Just five months away!

With our wedding only five months away, its hard to believe how fast the past three months have gone by since my best friend and the love of my life asked me to marry him! It seems like it was just yesterday that I was having slumber parties with friends looking at bridal magazines picking out "the dress" and just the right shade of pink for my brides maids to wear as they walked down the aisle lined with pink and white tulle with some sort of pastel color flowers. I think I wanted a dress that looked just like something a princess would wear and I don't even remember who I thought the groom would be at the time (most likely J.T.T. you know, Johnathan Taylor Thomas) Oh, how times have changed!!

For those of you who know me, you know that our wedding is nothing like what I just described. Our colors are black and white with just a touch of red. My dress is beautiful and I can't wait to wear it! I put it on all the time and stand in front of the mirror thinking of what it will be like to walk down the aisle (not lined in tulle)! I am so excited for this big day and am even more excited to spend the rest of my life with my husband to be!!!
